Create Vote-By-Mail Voter Labels for Candidates

Voter Focus can produce labels of mail-ballot voters for distribution to candidates who have requested such labels. The labels can be provided to candidates:

  • In printed format. The printed label information includes the database and text fields specified in the document specification for CandLabels in Document Maintenance. This is typically the voter's registration ID, name, and Vote-By-Mail address. The top line of the label has the voter registration number and—depending on your address label settings in Voter Focus Admin—might also include the voter's party, precinct, sex, race, and voter registration status.

  • In a data file, which is a comma delimited text file, which can be emailed to the candidate, copied to media such as a CD, or (if you have a VR Tower website) posted to your website for retrieval from the Candidate File Distribution page via a secure login account. If you plan to use the website method, see How to Give a Candidate Access to the Candidate File Distribution Service Your Website.

The data file contains the fields listed in Layout of the Candidate Label Export File.

If you are providing the candidate with a data file, you should also give them the document Using Data Files from the Supervisor of Elections, which interprets the various fields in the file. This file can be found in our User Community. You should also give the candidate lists of the following codes from your county database:
