Set Up Website Candidate File Distribution
About Candidate Files that Can Be Posted to Your Website
- On your network's I drive, create a folder to hold the voter label files and FlexRep reports that will be sent to the website. We suggest you create a subfolder under I:\Vr6Sharedbinaries called \Candidate Files, but the folder can be anywhere on the I drive and have any name you like.
No folder setup is needed for the state daily files or for the EViD Get Out the Vote report.
- Create a website page where candidates can log in to retrieve their files. For instructions, see the topic How to Create a Page for Candidate File Distribution in the Web Focus Help system. The URL of this page should be given to candidates so they'll know where to go to login and access their files.
-
Assign them login credentials for the Candidate File Distribution module on your website.
-
Set up the candidate to receive the three state daily files and the EViD Get Out the Vote report, if they requested them.
Once the one-time and individual-candidate setup are done, you can begin generating files for candidates.
How to Create Voter Labels for Candidates
All files are automatically copied to your website by the VRScheduler - UpdateWebHosting.exe program, which runs every 20 minutes. (If a file needs to be posted right away, see How to Manually Post a File to the File Distribution Service on Your Website.)
Candidates can then go to the website to access their files. (See the topic What Candidates Should Do to Retrieve Their Files in the VR Tower Help system.) See Using Data Files from the Supervisor of Elections in our User Community for a description of the layout of the various files, which could be helpful to candidates.
