How to

Move-In Address Changes from a Voter Response

A change of residential address from a voter moving into your county is considered a voter response when communicated via a signed written notice (such as a voter information card, letter, or vote-by-mail request), a phone call, or an email message.

If the address change is submitted on a voter registration application form, the procedure for recording the address change is different. See Name, Address, and Party Changes from an NVRA or FPCA Form for instructions.

Note  An address change entered at an EViD station automatically schedules a voter information card and updates the last voter activity date on the voter's Activity tab. If documentation such as a voter information card or letter is collected from the voter at the time of the address change, this documentation should be scanned and indexed to the voter's record. Voter-response processing as described in this topic need not be performed for EViD address changes.

To move a voter into your county when receiving a voter response:

  1. Go to VOTER REGISTRATION > Record Correspondence from Voter.

  2. On the Find a Voter dialog, enter the voter’s information and click FVRS Search.

  3. Scan the list of matches returned by the search. When you find the voter, click the name to bring up their information in the Correspondence from Voter dialog.

  4. In the Card Returned by Voter box, select the last button to activate the drop-down list of voter response types and select the one that matches the type of notice from the voter.

  5. Click Address Change Inside State.

  6. On the Voter New Address dialog, enter the voter's new address in your county and click OK. If the address validates against your local Streets table, the voter will be moved into your county and the Find a Voter dialog will reappear. Voter Focus schedules printing of an updated voter information card. Dismiss the Find a Voter dialog.

Note  If address cannot be validated against the streets in the database, leave the old residential address in the record until you can contact the voter to confirm the address. Continue with the next step so that a voter response can be recorded, even though the address appears to be invalid. Scheduling of the voter information card does not occur if the address was not validated.

  1. If you want to print the voter information card now:

  1. If the VoterCard application is not already running, go to PRINTING  > Voter Card and start it.

  2. Access the voter's record and click Printing.

  3. On the Schedule Document Printing dialog, click Voter Card. The card will print and the scheduled print job will be removed from the Notices queue.

  4. For more information about immediate printing of a voter information card, see About the Voter Card Program.

  1. If the voter response is a document, scan the document and index it to the voter’s record.

After changing a voter’s record from a voter response, you will notice these changes:
