Using Tech Utilities to Configure Station Settings

Running the EViD Maintenance program to configure station settings is not required, but we strongly recommend it because it saves users from having to manually set up each EViD station individually, including its ballot-printing settings if the EViD is connected to a ballot printer, and allows you to utilize EViD Web Monitor more easily.

If you skipped the EViD Maintenance step, when each EViD starts up, a worker at the voting location will need to manually configure the station, including its ballot-printing settings, if applicable using Tech Utilities.

Tech Utilities can also be used to manually change settings on an EViD if changes need to be made at a polling location or when setting up a new EViD at a polling location during an election.

Important: These settings can be set or changed on the EViD station at any time; however; we highly recommend that you set and test election-specific settings well in advance of an election.

If you plan to configure EViD station settings using Tech Utilities, you should load the election activator (Early Voting or Election Day) prior to setting the options on the EViD stations. Otherwise, when you load the election activator, the settings on the EViD will be overwritten by the settings specified in EViD Maintenance.
  • Use the Change Location & Precincts utility to specify the voting location where the EViD is deployed.

  • For Election Day, use the Change Mode utility to specify whether the EViD should use clerk or inspector mode.

  • Use the Ballot Printer utility to specify ballot printing settings, if applicable.

  • Use the Change Connection Settings utility to specify the IP address, if configured for a static IP LAN connection in Poll Place Maintenance.
