Change Connection Settings
This feature lets you change the network settings used for the EViD stations to connect to the internet and to each other through local peer-to-peer communications. It is useful in the case where the connection information was incorrectly set up when the activators were created, or if an EViD station was set to be connected using a method that later became unavailable.
You can also run a communications test from here.
This capability is also available in the Remote Utilities program.
On the Tech Utilities dialog, touch Change Connection Settings. The Change Connection Information dialog appears. The dialog layout changes, depending on which Network Mode option you select.
Dialup
LAN
Wireless
- Network Mode—Select the type of communications the station is using.
- Dialup Settings—If you selected Dialup in the Network Mode box, enter the phone number, user name, and password for the internet service provider account.
- LAN Settings—If you selected LAN in the Network Mode box, enter Y in the DHCP field to have the EViD station obtain an IP address automatically. Or enter N in the DHCP field and enter the connection information for the voting location.
- Wireless Peer-to-Peer—If selected, the EViD creates an EViD ad hoc wireless network. This will take precedence over the wireless network mode settings unless you have added a second wireless adapter to the EViD, in addition to the built-in wireless adapter. In that case, the EViD will first create the EViD ad hoc wireless s network with one adapter and then connect to the network specified in the wireless network mode settings using the second adapter.
- Wireless LAN Settings—If your selection for Network Mode is Wireless, enter the name of the wireless network at the voting location and the password to access the wireless network.
- Create EViD Hostpot—If selected, the EViD Edge station creates a hotspot that other EViD stations can connect to.
Click OK to save your changes. Click Cancel to return to the Tech Utilities dialog.
