Configure EViD Station Settings for Elections

Prior to an election, you must configure settings for each EViD station for early voting and for Election Day, including the following:

  • The Place ID of the site where the station will be deployed for early voting and/or Election Day.

  • Whether the EViD should be set up for early voting mode or election day mode. If the latter, whether the EViD should use clerk or inspector mode.

  • Ballot printing and ExpressVote settings, when applicable.

  • The IP address, if configured for a static IP LAN connection in Poll Place Maintenance.

Note: This step is not required prior to staging an EViD. To set a static IP address or ballot printer settings for testing during staging, use Tech Utilities to set these options after the EViD has been staged.

You can do this using EViD Maintenance or using Tech Utilities on each EViD station as described in the sections below.

Using EViD Maintenance, you define the individual configuration for each EViD station in your county and then apply these settings to the EViD automatically when you load the election activator. The EViD Maintenance feature is designed for counties that always send the same EViD stations to the same locations. It would not be useful for counties that randomly assign EViD stations to voting locations.

Otherwise, you must power on each individual EViD and configure the station settings using Tech Utilities, which may be a better option if you only have a few EViDs to configure or if you want to apply unique settings to a specific EViD.

Important: If you plan to configure EViD station settings using Tech Utilities, you should load the election activator (Early Voting or Election Day) prior to setting the options on the EViD stations. Otherwise, when you load the election activator, the settings on the EViD will be overwritten by the settings specified in EViD Maintenance.
