Precinct Maintenance

To access:  STREETS & PRECINCTS > Precinct Maintenance > {precinct}

On this dialog, you maintain a precinct's district assignments, any precinct splits and their district assignments, and other precinct-related tasks.

If a precinct has precinct splits, they are listed in the Precinct Splits pane. The precinct is also listed there, but it will not necessarily appear at the top of the list; it depends on the way the precinct and splits are numbered.

Note:  Precinct splits are not required. Many counties have few or no precinct splits.

Fields and Controls on this Dialog

Normal Polling Place

This display-only field shows the polling place where voters in the precinct normally vote. When you create a new precinct, you must select a polling place for the precinct.

You can Change a Precinct's Normal Polling Place or Change the Polling Place for a Single Election.

Election Board Combined With (Precinct)

Change Same Board Precinct

Delete Same Board

The board precinct feature lets you share the election board (that is, the election worker staff) assigned to one precinct (the providing precinct) with another precinct voting at the same polling place (the sharingprecinct). When two precincts share the same election board, you will see an indicate of this on the Election Worker Assignment by Precinct dialog.

When a precinct shares the election board of a providing precinct, you will see Election Board Combined with (Precinct) and the number of the providing precinct. On the record for the providing precinct, you will see Provides board for and the number of the sharing precinct.

The board-sharing is maintained (that is, set, changed or deleted) in the maintenance record of the sharing precinct.

If the two precincts have different normal polling places, doing a Set Same Board Precinct operation automatically changes the normal polling place of the sharing precinct to the normal polling place of the providing precinct. You will see a message to this effect when you set up the share.

If the polling place of the providing precinct is temporarily changed for an election, the polling place of the sharing precinct is automatically changed to the same temporary polling place for the same election.

The Delete Same Board button is present on the sharing precinct's maintenance record, allowing you to remove the sharing of an election board.

Election Center

Optional. Select the support warehouse or other election center associated with the precinct.

Precinct Splits

This pane lists the precinct and any precinct splits, showing the five main district assignments for each (Florida Senate, U.S. Congress, Florida House, County Commission, and School Board). To see assignments for all additional districts in the county including city districts, click Districts to open the District and City Assignment dialog.

New Precinct Split

Lets you create a precinct split.

Districts

Opens the District and City Assignment dialog for the highlighted precinct or precinct split.

Delete

Allows you to delete the highlighted precinct split. You will be asked to confirm the deletion. You cannot delete a precinct split if there are any street segments that reference the precinct split (that is, the precinct split ID is in the Precinct Split field on the Street Segment Maintenance dialog).

New Split like this one

Lets you create a precinct split with district assignments that are similar to the highlighted precinct or precinct split. This saves you from having to select all district assignments for the new precinct split. You simply change the ones that are different for the new split.

Notes

Displays a free-form text box that is used to enter any notes about the precinct. An asterisk (*) on the Notes button indicates notes exist.

Inventory

Opens the Precinct Inventory dialog where you keep a record of the items you will need for the precinct.

Show Audit

Opens the Precinct Audit dialog listing the changes that have been made for this precinct and its precinct splits.

Note:  Precinct changes prior to Voter Focus release 4.1 are not shown, as this feature was not available until release 4.1.
