Things to Do Before You Create a Voter Card Export File
The voter card file includes all database fields selected for the document defined in Document Maintenance as Voter Card. Check the form layout of this document to be sure that all the fields you want are included.
Strictly speaking, it isn't required to specify the Top, Left, and Right positions of each field, because this information isn't included in the export file. However, it is a good idea to do it, so you can check how the fields are laid out on the form and perhaps give an example to the commercial printer. Click the Print Alignment button on the Document Maintenance dialog to print a layout of the form.
If you use any of the fields named VCrdMsg, be sure that a message for each field is defined. The voter card messages are defined in VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > System Options > VIC Options.
If your voter cards contain voter precinct or polling place information, verify that this information has been finalized and any other related information appearing on the card is correct and complete.
Does the commercial printer want the file sorted by zip code? How do they want you to transmit the file—via an FTP site, CD, or some other method? It’s important to have the answers to these questions before you begin, so the file can be set up properly.
