About
Florida Statute allows voters residing at an assisted-living or similar facility to have their vote-by-mail ballots delivered to the facility and to have assistance with voting their ballot. A voter who has requested supervised voting should have the Supervised Voting flag set on the Vote-by-Mail tab in their voter registration record so that their ballot can be delivered as requested.
Supervised voters are indicated by the notation
in the lower left corner of the Maint
tab.
Voter Focus has a Deliver Ballots run that captures the supervised voters so these ballots can be delivered in batches to the voters' facilities by the elections officials participating in supervised voting activities.
To designate a voter as a supervised voter, select the Supervised Voting check box on any of these dialogs:
The voter's Application dialog.
The Vote-by-Mail tab in the voter's record.
The Vote-by-Mail Request dialog. You need not be recording a request for a vote-by-mail ballot in order to select this check box.
You will see the Supervised Voting check box only on the records and applications of local voters. You cannot designate a voter outside your county as a supervised voter nor does the setting of this field travel if the voter moves to another county. the Supervised Voting check box is a local database field only.
Voter Focus does not warn you if you try to select Supervised Voting for a voter with an overseas address, because those two conditions are not likely to occur together. Be careful that this check box is not selected for overseas and military voters.
The Deliver Ballots program has a run type specifically for supervised voters. As with the other Deliver Ballots runs, the Supervised Voters run can:
Create an export file for an external mail house. The export file name for the Supervised Voters run is:
Elec<election number>Supervised<YYYYMMDD><HHMM>.txt
Supervised voters won't be included in the Supervised Voting run if:
They are MARG voters. Instead they will be included in the MARG voters run.
Their ballot goes to an overseas address. Instead they will be included in the appropriate overseas run, such as Overseas Civilian.
Supervised voting is a selection criterion in the FlexRep and Vote-by-Mail Flexible Report programs. In either program you can create a report focusing solely on supervised voters, you can include supervised voters along with other voters (the default selection), or you can exclude them entirely.
