How to

Change Petition Focus

The petition in focus is the petition against which all activities by the user are performed—verifying signatures, certifying totals, and running reports. The petition in focus is displayed at the top of the Petitions tab.

When there are multiple petitions in a batch, the focus extends to the batch level and the user will only be able to verify signatures in that batch. Any reports that are batch-specific will show data only for the batch in focus. Certification of totals can be done for any batch, regardless of the batch in focus.

If user is assigned to only one petition or petition batch, their petition (and batch) in focus will be the one to which they are assigned; they cannot change it.

To change the petition in focus, you need the permission Petitions All Petn Selection.

To change the petition in focus:

  1. On the Petitions tab, click Change Petition Focus.

  2. On the Select Petition dialog, highlight the petition you want to be in focus. If the petition has more than one batch, you can focus on a particular batch by clicking the sign to expand the entry for that petition and highlighting a batch. If you do not select a batch, the focus will be on batch 1.

You can restrict the list to candidate petitions or to initiative petitions by selecting an option in Select Petition Types. Closed petitions do not appear in the list unless you select Show Closed Petitions.

  1. Click Select. The petition in focus will change to reflect the petition and batch you selected.
