Create a Walking List for a Candidate or Committee

Walking lists, which orders the list of voters in a door-to-door fashion, can be created in FlexRep. The list can be helpful to canvassers because it lists the voters in each household together.

Voters with protected addresses do not appear in these lists.

This topic explains how to create a walking list. In this procedure, we will focus on Democrats in a particular congressional district as an example. For an actual walking list requested by a candidate or committee, you would likely have different and additional criteria. We will be sorting the list first by precinct, and then by residential address. If you limit your list to a single precinct, you would only need to sort the list by residential address.

  1. Run FlexRep and in the Data Source box, select Voter Register.

  2. In the Output Option box, select Voter List.

  3. In the Address Selection box, choose Residence Address.

  4. In the Record Selection box, click .

  5. On the Select Precincts, Districts, Cities, Wards dialog, choose Select a District. Then, in the District field, choose one of the districts, for example, CNG 2. Click Close.

  6. In the Record Selection box, click .

  7. On the Select Sex, Race, Parties dialog, in the Select Parties box, use the button to move all parties to the Not Selected pane. Then scroll down in the list to find DEM, highlight it, and click to move DEM to the Selected pane. Click Close.

  8. Make other record selections to further refine your list.

  9. In the Sort Option box, select Residence Address by Precinct.

  10. Click Run FlexRep. A list of the voters meeting the criteria are displayed onscreen in Crystal Reports format. They are ordered by precinct, and within precincts, by residential address.
