Change an Election's Status

As an election moves through the election cycle—from its initial appearance on the election schedule to the completion of post-election processing—you move the corresponding election record in your Voter Focus database through a series of four (possibly five) stages. We use the term election status to refer to an election's current stage in the election cycle.

  1. Ensure that the election is the focused election. If not, click Change Election Status on the Console and select the election.
  2. Go to:

    ELECTIONS > Maintain Election Settings > Election Maintenance > Change Status/Default

    or

    ELECTIONS > Change Election Status

    3. Note:  The only statuses available via the Change Election Status button are Open, Active, and Return Processing Only. If you want to change an election's status to Closed or Deleted, use the Change Status/Default button in Election Maintenance.
  3. On the Election Status dialog, select the new election status.
  4. Click Save.
