Regn Date

Required field. The registration date in a voter’s record determines whether the voter is eligible to vote in a particular election, so it is critical that you enter the correct date in this field.

If a voter has registered after book closing, the next time you view the record, the voter’s Audit tab will show an entry for the database field PtyCh, indicating the old and new parties and the date the change will take effect. On the Maint tab and on the voter's application form, the old party will still be shown, but it will be highlighted in red.

Florida law requires Supervisor of Elections offices to close the registration books 29 days prior to an election day. Anyone completing an application form prior to book closing is eligible for the upcoming election. Applicants who submit an incomplete form prior to book closing will be ineligible to vote unless they supply complete information prior to book closing. See Florida Statute 97.053 for guidance on determining the correct registration date.

This field is editable for new voters and unverified voters. However, to edit this field for existing, verified voters, you must have the VotersChangeRegnDate permission to edit the value in the Regn Date field.

Depending on how your Voter Focus system is configured, the date you enter in Regn Date might be carried over for the next new voter processed, so always check this field to be sure you have the correct registration date for the voter you are processing. (This option is managed in VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > System Options > Sticky Registration Date.)

Initially the Regn Date field is blank. Once the field contains a date, you can tab into the field and press the + or - key on your numeric keypad to move the date forward or back in time.
