The Redistricting Update program adjusts voter assignments to districts. You should run this program after making changes to district assignments in one or more precincts. Redistricting Update examines the voter records of all voters whose status is Active, Inactive, or Pre-Reg (preregistered 17-year-olds) and:
Verifies that each voter has a valid street address, as defined in the Street (Streetm) table.
Examines the precinct or precinct split assigned to the street segment of the voter address and corrects voter precinct assignments if necessary.
Compares the USPS City and Zip Code of the voter record to the Streetm table and makes any necessary corrections.
Determines whether the voter has the correct district assignments for the precinct assigned and corrects any inaccurate assignments.
After examining the voter records, the program then starts the Recalculate Totals program, which recalculates the voter totals for street segment, precinct, district, city, party, and race.
The Redistricting Update program produces a report as it runs, indicating the corrections it has made. This report is displayed on the dialog and is also written to a text file, whose name appears at the top of the display. Note that if the report grows larger than 500 lines, subsequent lines will not appear on the dialog, but the complete report will be available in the text file.
Redistricting Update is resource-intensive and takes time to run, so it should be run on a quiet system . It will necessarily take more time on the live database than on the Redistricting database, because updates to voter records on the live database are queued for transmission to FVRS. This transmission will occur after the Fab Four are restarted following the Redistricting Update run.
