How to

Set Up the USPS Confirm One Interface

This topic explains the initial setup of the interface. See About the USPS Confirm One Interface to Voter Focus for an overview of this feature.

Install the Four-State Bar Code Font

To print the four-state bar code font required for printing of Intelligent Mail® bar codes, the font must be installed on the computer from which printing of mail pieces or generation of export files is initiated.

To obtain and install the font:

  1. On the workstation where mail pieces will be printed, go to this page on the USPS website:

https://ribbs.usps.gov/onecodesolution/download.cfm?downloads=FontsNonAFP&selection=3

  1. In the Name column in the Available Downloads table, click this link:

uspsFontsNonAFP-1.4.0.zip

Agree to the license conditions to complete download of the zip file (uspsFontsNonAFO-1.4.0.zip) containing the font.

  1. In the zip file, find the font file USPSIMBStandard.ttf. (It’s several subfolders down.):

\fonts\scalable\trueType\USPSIMBStandard.ttf

and extract it from the zip file to a temporary folder.

  1. In the temporary folder, double-click the file name. On the window that appears, click to install the font on the workstation.

Note  Other four-state bar code fonts can be used. If you want to use a different font, check with the USPS to determine which fonts are currently approved.

Turn on the Interface in Voter Focus

Contact VR Systems to turn on USPS Confirm One Interface for you. When you make the call to us, have ready your 6- or 9-digit USPS tracking number from your tracking-service vendor.

Add the Intelligent Mail Bar Code to Mail Pieces

Turning on the interface, as described above, makes the field USPSConfirmCode/USPS Tracking Barcode available on the Document Layout dialog. To use this field, you need to add it to the document layouts of envelopes and other mail pieces where you want to apply the Intelligent Mail bar code. Address labels printed as a form will also need this field.

Consult with the USPS to determine the proper location of the bar code on mail pieces.

The font for this field should be USPSIMBStandard (or another four-state bar code font approved by the USPS). We recommend you specify a font size of 16 pts. If you don’t see the font in the list of fonts, download and install it as described above.
