Users List
To access: VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > User Permissions
Before a user can access Voter Focus, you must add their Windows user ID to the Users List dialog. When adding a user, you assign them a user type, which is a grouping that defines their permissions in Voter Focus. If you later need to change a user's type, you make the change on this dialog.
The columns on the dialog can be sorted by clicking a column heading.
The value in the Database column
denotes which database(s) the user is allowed to access: Production,
Training
- Go to VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > User Permissions.
- On the Users List dialog, click New. A line with the user name New User is added to the bottom of the list.
- Click in the User Name field for the new user and enter the user's Windows user ID. (Do not include the domain name.)
- In the Type field, select the user type for this user.
- In the Database field, select the database to which this user will be restricted or leave the setting at All if the user can access all Voter Focus databases on the system.
- If your office uses printer zones, you have the option of selecting a zone for this user in the Printer Zone column. Users assigned to a printer zone will then have their print jobs directed to the printer in their zone. At the time of this writing, only the Document Maintenance dialog uses printer zones.
- To review the permissions assigned to the user's type, click in the Permissions field to open the User Permissions dialog for the user type. Remember that if you change any permissions here, they are applied to all users assigned to that user type, not just the new user you are setting up.
- Click Save.
- Go to VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > User Permissions.
- On the Users List dialog, click the user name in the list.
- In the Type field, select the new user type and click Save.
- Go to VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > User Permissions.
- On the Users List dialog, highlight the user name.
- Click Delete; then confirm that you want to delete the record by clicking Yes. The name is removed from the list and from the Voter Focus database.
