This topic explains the steps to take when redistricting results in a change to a district number. We recommend that this procedure be performed in the Redistricting database, then tested to be sure all voters were moved, and then repeated in the live database.
To renumber a district:
1. In the Redistricting database, go to STREETS AND PRECINCTS > Redistricting > DB Maintenance > Districts and create a district with the new district number.
2. Go to STREETS AND PRECINCTS > Redistricting > DB Maintenance > Precinct District Assignments > {precinct} and change the district assignment of each affected precinct and precinct split to the new district.
3. Run the report Precinct List for District to verify that all affected precincts were reassigned to the new district.
4. Run the Redistricting Update program.
5. Run the report Qualified Voters by District and verify that no voter remains in the old district.
6. Go to STREETS AND PRECINCTS > Redistricting > DB Maintenance > Districts, select the old district, and click Delete District to remove it from the system
7. Switch to the live database and repeat steps 1-6.
