How to
This topic explains how to permanently merge two precincts into a single precinct. As more voters vote early or by mail, the consolidation of precincts can help reduce costs associated with election-day voting.
The instructions here assume you are merging two precincts—A and B—so that Precinct A will ultimately contain all voters from A and B, and precinct B will be removed from the system. If your county wants to create a new precinct—A—to hold voters from old precincts B and C, you will need to create precinct A first and then follow the instructions for precinct B below to retire precincts B and C.
Your first step should be to move voters from retiring precinct (B) to the consolidated precinct (A). For instructions, see How to Move Voters out of a Precinct.
The next consideration is the poll workers whose normal work precinct is B. They'll need to have their normal work precinct moved to precinct A. For instructions, see How to Change the Normal Work Precinct for a Group of Workers.
You can now safely delete precinct B,
See How to Delete a Precinct or a Precinct Split for more information.
Note for Poll Worker Coordinators You should be aware that a deleted precinct will no longer be available as a reference election on the Poll Worker Assignment by Precinct dialog (?) when making poll worker assignments . The worker assignments will still be shown for the deleted precinct, but the precinct will no longer be in the list of precincts available for the “Prior Election.”
The above doesn't make sense. Precincts don't show up in the list of reference elections...what are we trying to say here? Ask Cathy.
