As you know, Voter Focus allows you to assign multiple precincts to a single polling place. EViD stations, on the other hand, are set up to check in voters at a polling place, regardless of their precinct. As long as the voter resides in a precinct assigned to the polling place, the EViD stations will recognize the voter as being “at the right place.” It isn’t necessary that the precincts be combined in Voter Focus (using the Combine With Precinct feature), only that the precincts are assigned to the same polling place.
But what happens when a county wants to allocate their EViD stations by precinct? This can be the case when, within a polling place facility, the county has designated separate physical locations for the precincts voting there. Say, for example, the north end of the Ocean High School gym is reserved for Precinct 12 while the south end of the same facility will serve the voters of Precinct 46.
To support this type of arrangement, you should create—in Voter Focus—a separate polling place for each location in the facility where a different precinct is voting. For our school gym situation, the county would create two polling places: OHS Gym-North and OHS Gym-South, and assign precincts 12 and 46 respectively. The EViD stations will then recognize only the voters from their respective precincts.
