About
The Petitions features in Voter Focus give counties the ability to maintain both candidate and citizen-initiative petitions, quickly complete the signature-verification process, view and print reports, and create petition certification reports for the State.
To use the Petitions features in Voter Focus, you first create a record for the petition, designating it as a candidate petition or an initiative petition. As petitions begin to come in, you have the option of creating batches under the petition record to divide up the incoming petitions so that different users can be assigned to work specific batches. These users run the Verify Signatures program, comparing the voter's signature on file with the signature on the petition. The user can then accept the petition or reject it, selecting a reason for rejection. The program helps the user with the verification process be confirming that the voter resides in the district(s) whose voters are eligible to sign the petition and other eligibility criteria.
Signatures on initiative petitions must be certified to the State. Voter Focus assists with this obligation by totaling the signatures in each petition batch and producing the required report documents.
