User Permissions Affecting Elections Activities

The functions related to elections can be configured to reveal features to some users and hide them from others. This is done by granting/withholding permissions to user types in VOTER FOCUS ADMIN > User Permissions. (See How to Enable/Disable Features in Voter Focus for instructions.)

The user permissions for elections activities encompass elections, places, and CallTrack.

Add a file to the report archive.

AdminOverrideLock

Unlock a locked record, such as a voter registration, precinct, or place record.

User attempting to access locked record will see a message asking if they want to unlock it.

ChangeElectionFocus

Change the focused election in which the user is working. If the user does not have this permission, their focused election will be the default election.

DeleteFilesFromReportArchive

Delete a file from the report archive.

EACReports

Run the EAC Reports.

ElectionReports

Allows user to run election-related reports.

ElectionStatus

Allows user to change the status of an election.

Run the programs on the Maintain Election Settings dialog, except for those on the Register Generation tab, which is separately controlled by the RegisterGeneration permission.

Record voters' voting from the hand-written entries in the blank pages at the back of precinct registers.

Print precinct registers that have already been generated.

Record a voter's provisional ballot in an election.

Run the programs on the Reconcile History dialog, except for those on the Update Voting History tab, which is separately controlled by the UpdateVotingHistory permission.

Generate precinct registers and register supplements by running the programs on the Maintain Election Settings dialog under the Register Generation tab.

Places User Permissions

Gives user inquiry-only access to place records for the place types for which the user type is granted access.

The user type should also be granted one or more of these permissions:

Grant this permission to users who need to make changes to place information.

The user type should also be granted the permission Place (so they can see the Place Maintenance button on the Elections tab) and one or more of these permissions:

so that they can access the records for the place type.

Give this permission to users who need to view information on polling places.

To allow users to maintain this information, also grant the permission Places:Maintenance.

Give this permission to users who need to view information on early voting sites.

To allow users to maintain this information, also grant the permission Places:Maintenance.

Give this permission to users who need to view information on election centers.

To allow users to maintain this information, also grant the permission Places:Maintenance.

Allows addition of a file to a place record.

The Add File icon on the place record.

PlacesFileStoreDeleteFiles

Allows user to delete a file associated with a place record.

PlacesReports

Allows user to run the reports pertaining to places.

CallTrack User Permissions

CallTrack

Grant this permission to all users who will be using any aspect of the CallTrack application. Then apply other permissions to configure further access to CallTrack.

When this permission is granted, the user can view and log calls for precinct polling places, but they cannot log or see calls for early voting sites and election centers. To allow access to those two place types, grant these permissions:

Grant this permission to users who need to maintain equipment lists and CallTrack departments and categories.

CallTrack:ElectionCenters

Allows user to view and create calls for election centers.

Allows user to view and create calls for precinct polling places when they also have one or both of these permissions:
