About
This topic is intended for counties employing electronic poll books other than the EViD system and who have VR Systems' Generic e-Poll Book Voting History Interface.
Using this separately licensed interface, counties deploying a variety of electronic poll books can:
Receive Voter Focus-generated precinct-register data for entry into electronic poll books. This information can then be used on Election Day to verify voter eligibility and check voters in to vote at the polling place.
Process Election Day check-in data from those poll books into voter records. This step is analogous to the swiping of precinct registers to capture voting history data.
A flowchart of the entire process shows what steps take place on the electronic poll books and those performed with Voter Focus.
The electronic poll books must be capable of reading the precinct register export file produced by Voter Focus and of producing a file of voter check-in data in the prescribed layout.
This interface ensures that voter’s check-ins are added to the Precinct Register table (also called the pseudo precinct register) in the voter registration database, so that the check-ins can be verified against tabulation totals. When two sets of totals have been reconciled, you can then perform the voting history update (just as if the books had been swiped) and the permanent voting history will be updated in both the local database and on FVRS.
Keep in mind that attempts to update the voter registration database directly—without going through this interface—will result in the history records not being updated correctly into the local and FVRS history records.
We strongly recommend that you perform thorough testing of this interface well before an election, using the Sandbox or Training database versions of the live voter registration database.
