Create a New Polling Place, Election Center, or Early Voting Site

1. Go to ELECTIONS > Place Maintenance.
2. On the Find Place dialog, click Cancel.
3. On the Place Maintenance dialog, click the New button in the toolbar. The Enter New Place Number dialog appears.
4. From the Place Type drop-down menu, select V,Precinct poll work.
5. In the Place Number field, enter an ID for the new polling place. Keep in mind that place IDs should be unique throughout Voter Focus. For example, you should not use A12 for both a polling place and an early voting site.
6. Click OK.
7. The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
8. Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control.
9. Click Save.

6. Click OK.
7. The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
8. Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control. (The Categories, Precincts, and Election Overrides tabs do not apply to early voting sites.)
9. Click Save. If you have a VR Tower website and are using the Early Voting Location & Status module, it may take up to 2 hours before this new location appears on your web site. (The program that updates the website with this information is VRScheduler - UpdateWebHosting.exe, which runs every 20 minutes.)

6. Click OK.
7. The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
8. Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control. (The Categories, Precincts, and Election Overrides tabs do not apply to election centers.)
9. Click Save.

An alternative way to create a new place is to access an existing place of the type you want to create, and then click New in the toolbar on the Place Maintenance dialog.
