Copy Mail Ballot Requests for a Runoff Election
This topic explains how to do a mass generation of mail ballot requests for a runoff election. The generation process creates requests for voters who had a request in the prior election, are eligible to vote in the upcoming election, and do not have an all-elections or FPCA request that would cause them to receive a mail ballot for the runoff. All-elections and FPCA voters whose standing requests expired after the prior election will have requests generated by this run.
The process includes voters who were mailed a ballot but voted early in the prior election. It excludes voters who have already early voted in the upcoming election.
Voters whose ballot for the prior election was returned as undeliverable or whose absentee request was canceled will not have requests generated.
The process creates an entry in the voter's audit indicating that the request was generated automatically.
To copy requests from a prior election to an upcoming election:

Go to Vote By Mail > Vote-By-Mail Utilities > Copy Requests from Prior Election.

On the Copy Vote-By-Mail Requests from a Prior Election dialog, click Select Source Election and select the prior election from the list. By default, only elections with the status Return Processing Only and Closed are shown. You can add Active elections to the display by selecting the Active check box in the Election Types Displayed box.

Click Select Target Election and select the upcoming election from the list. Only elections whose status is Active can be displayed.

Click Generate Requests to find voters with requests in the source election who are eligible to vote in the target election. If voters are found, they are listed in the Requests Copied from Election to Election report that appears onscreen. Examine the report to be sure all voters listed should have a request generated. If there are errors, minimize or dismiss the report, and then click Cancel on the Print Report dialog. Fix the errors, and then repeat this procedure from step 1.

When you are satisfied that the report is correct and complete, click Update on the Print Report dialog to generate the requests for the voters in the report.
