Run Redistricting Update
To access: STREET & PRECINCTS > Redistricting > Redistrict Update > Redistricting Update
The Redistricting Update program adjusts voter assignments to districts. You should run this program after making changes to district assignments in one or more precincts or after moving one or more street segments to a new precinct or precinct split. Redistricting Update examines the records of all voters whose status is Active, Inactive, or Pre-Reg (preregistered 17-year-olds) and:
- Verifies that each voter has a valid street address, as defined in the Street (Streetm) table.
- Examines the precinct or precinct split assigned to the street segment of the voter address and corrects voter precinct assignments if necessary.
- Compares the USPS City and Zip Code of the voter record to the Streetm table and makes any necessary corrections.
- Determines the correct districts are assigned for the each voter's precinct and corrects any inaccurate assignments.
After examining the voter records, the program then starts the Recalculate Totals program, which recalculates the voter totals by street segment, precinct, district, city,
The Redistricting Update program produces a report as it runs, indicating the corrections that are made. The report displays on the dialog and is also written to a text file, whose name appears at the top of the display. Note that if the report grows larger than 500 lines, subsequent lines do not appear on the dialog, but the complete report is available in the text file.
Redistricting Update is resource intensive and takes time to run, so it should be run on a quiet system.
