How to Create a New In-Person Course
ELM provides administrators with the ability to track courses completed in-person. These courses appear similar to other ELM course types in the Student View and can include resources; however, they do not have a test active within the ELM system and are only used to track participation in these courses as opposed to delivering training or assessing a student.
If you conduct a training session in a physical location and you want your ELM student to access resources online prior to the event, you can create a new course in ELM, add the resources to the ELM course, and invite your students to the course. This can be done with or without adding test questions to the course.
If you do not add a test to the course, this course will appear with a blue background in the student's course list. The student can then download the materials prior to class. The course background remains blue regardless of how many times they view the course.
If you do add a test to the course, the course initially appears with a blue background in the student’s course list. However, once the student completes and passes the course test, the background color of the course in the student's course list turns green, indicating successful completion of the course.
If your students use ELM to track required courses, which include in-person courses that do not have tests, and you want the background color of the course to appear green to indicate to your student that they have completed the course, once the student has attended the course, you can mark the course as completed. This allows the student to both access the course resources at a later date and keep track of training classes they've participated in at a physical location.
