Fed Election Only Flag

Note  The flagging of a voter as Fed Elections Only should rarely be necessary. It is intended only for voters who move out of state during the book-closing period for a presidential general election.

Select this check box for voters who move out of Florida after book closing for a presidential general election and who are therefore unable to vote in the election in their new state. Florida law entitles these voters to vote an absentee ballot provided by their old Florida county. This check box should be selected for a voter only after the books have closed for the presidential general election. The Fed Elections Only check box is automatically cleared when the voter's record is moved out of your county.

Voter with the Fed Elections Only flag are eligible to vote only in the presidential race, which is the only race that other states have in common with Florida.

For presidential general elections, a special ballot style that includes only the presidential race must be set up for Fed Elections Only voters. This ballot style must be designated as the Federal Election Style in the Elections application. When a Fed Elections Only voter requests an absentee ballot, Voter Focus will assign them the Federal Election Style ballot instead of the ballot for their old Florida precinct.

Fed Elections Only voters do not appear in precinct registers.

To find your Fed Elections Only voters, create a report using the Flexible Report option. We recommend you carefully review the list and determine what should happen with each voter, as each one will need to be handled on an individual basis. If you determine that a voter should receive an absentee ballot for the presidential election, record an absentee request for them in the usual way.
