Dialog Help
To access: VOTER REGISTRATION > Voter Maintenance > {voter} > Comms tab > {double-click Comms entry}
The Resend an Email dialog provides details about an email that was generated by one of the batch-email processes in Voter Focus such as the Email mail-ballot run in VOTE BY MAIL > Deliver Ballots or the class-invitation letter in ELECTION WORKERS > Train Workers.
If the message has not gone out, the Date Sent field will display the date 1/1/1880. This could mean that the EmailSender program has not tried to send the email yet or that the outgoing transmission failed.
The EmailSender program will made two attempts to send an email (that is, a first attempt and one retry). If both attempts fail, you will see a message describing the failure in the Send Error box.
After fixing the issue that caused the failure, you can resend the email by clicking Resend. The resend will generate a new outgoing email entry on the Comms tab, so you must check the Date Sent field in this new entry to determine if the retry was successful and the email was sent.
If you discover that the recipient email address is invalid and the voter or election worker has given you a new email address to try, enter the address in the To: field on the Resend an Email dialog and then resend the email to the new address. However, keep in mind that changing the address here does not update the original email address in the voter's or election worker's record—that is, the email address that was originally used. You will need to retrieve the voter's (or worker's) record and update it with the new address.
