Reinstate a Mail Ballot

This topic explains how to record the reinstatement of a rejected mail ballot by the Ballot Board based on a review process or receipt of a completed affidavit.

  1. Go to VOTER REGISTRATION > Voter Maintenance and access the voter's record.

  2. Click the Ballot By Mail tab and highlight the Ballot By Mail request for the election.

  3. Click Ballot By Mail to open the Ballot By Mail Adjustments dialog.

The dialog indicates when the returned ballot was processed and the reason for the rejection.

  1. Click Ballot Board Reinstatement to remove the rejection and allow the ballot to be recorded as tabulated. Click OK on the confirmation dialog. The dialog now shows the ballot as returned without error.

Any notices (such as an Absentee Rejection Letter or Signature Affidavit Notice) that were scheduled when the ballot was rejected are unscheduled automatically by the reinstatement. And a record is added to the Voter History Data export with the code AV, Absentee Ballot Accepted.
