About Returned Ballot Validation

During the Return Ballots Queue, Ballot Judge Queue, and Return Special Ballot Returns processes, the system checks details about the voter and the ballot. Warnings and errors are produced when these validation checks are not met.

The Accept button in these processes is not available when the following errors are produced:

  • The voter record is not locked
  • The voter record contains an error
  • The ballot return date is prior to the date it was mailed
  • The returned ballot is blocked
  • The ballot request is canceled
  • A ballot with the same style and number was already returned
  • The voter has already voted early
  • The voter has already voted at a polling place
  • The voter's eligibility is in question for the election
  • A later ballot number was returned

Any warnings that exist about the voter or the ballot display for your review and possible correction when you click Accept.
