Create a New Polling Place, Vote Center, Election Center, or Early Voting Site
This topic explains how to create a maintenance record for a new place in your system.

- Go to ELECTIONS > Place Maintenance.
- On the Find Place dialog, click Cancel.
- On the Place Maintenance dialog, click the New button in the toolbar. The Enter New Place Number dialog appears.
- From the Place Type drop-down menu, select V,Precinct poll work.
- In the Place Number field, enter a unique alphanumeric ID of up to six characters for the new polling place. The place ID must be unique, regardless of the place type. For example, you cannot use A12 for both a polling place and an early voting site.
- Click OK.
- The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
- Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control.
- Click Save.

- Go to ELECTIONS > Place Maintenance.
- On the Find Place dialog, click Cancel.
- On the Place Maintenance dialog, click the New button in the toolbar. The Enter New Place Number dialog appears.
- From the Place Type drop-down menu, select Z,Vote Center.
- In the Place Number field, enter a unique alphanumeric ID of up to six characters for the new vote center. The place ID must be unique, regardless of the place type. For example, you cannot use A12 for both a vote center and an early voting site.
- Click OK.
- The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
- Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control. (The Categories, Precincts, and Election Overrides tabs do not apply to vote centers.)
- Click Save.

- Go to ELECTIONS > Place Maintenance.
- On the Find Place dialog, click Cancel.
- On the Place Maintenance dialog, click the New button in the toolbar. The Enter New Place Number dialog appears.
- From the Place Type drop-down menu, select E,Early Voting work.
- In the Place Number field, enter a unique alphanumeric ID of up to six characters for the new vote center, polling place, early voting site, or election center. The place ID must be unique, regardless of the place type. For example, you cannot use A12 for both a polling place and an early voting site.
- Click OK.
- The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
- Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control. (The Categories, Precincts, and Election Overrides tabs do not apply to early voting sites.)
- Click Save.

- Go to ELECTIONS > Place Maintenance.
- On the Find Place dialog, click Cancel.
- On the Place Maintenance dialog, click the New button in the toolbar. The Enter New Place Number dialog appears.
- From the Place Type drop-down menu, select C,Election Center work.
- In the Place Number field, enter a unique alphanumeric ID of up to six characters for the new election center. The place ID must be unique, regardless of the place type. For example, you cannot use A12 for both an election center and an early voting site.
- Click OK.
- The Place Maintenance dialog appears with the Information tab displayed.
- Fill in the information on each tab, pressing F1 if you need help with a field or control. (The Categories, Precincts, and Election Overrides tabs do not apply to election centers.)
- Click Save.
Note: Election centers can also be set as participating vote centers in Maintain Election Settings.
An alternative way to create a new place is to access an existing place of the type you want to create, and then click New in the toolbar on the Place Maintenance dialog.
