Clone an Election
You can copy ballot styles, voting precincts, and related information from one election to another in a single operation—a significant time-saver when a new election has characteristics similar to an existing one. Any existing information in the receiving election will be overwritten by the copy operation.
The copied information includes:
- Ballot styles and related information such as the description, next ballot number, and sequence numbers
- Voting districts and precincts
- Ballot style assignments to precincts
- Polling place overrides (that is, temporary polling place assignments for the election)
- Combined precincts
- Number of books per precinct
- Phone Bank descriptions
The copy feature is available only when the election status is Open.
Copy information from one election to another:
- Ensure that the election you want to receive the copied information is the focused election. If not, click Change Election Status on the Console and select the election.
- Go to ELECTIONS > Maintain Election Settings > Election Maintenance > Utilities.
- Click Copy Districts and Style Assignments from another election.
- On the Select Election to Copy dialog, highlight the election whose information you want to copy and click OK. If ballot style or district-precinct information exists in the receiving election, you will be asked to confirm you want to overwrite it with the information from the copy election.
- The message Ballot Styles and Precinct Details copied indicates the copy operation is complete.
