Election Worker Work Types
The programs on the Election Workers tab of the Console run in one of three operational work types, which are divided along work assignment lines:
Precinct poll work—to maintain poll workers (that is, workers whose work assignments are limited to precincts on election day).
Early voting work—to maintain workers assigned to early voting sites during early voting.
Election center work—to maintain workers assigned to work at election centers (that is, non-voting sites).
The three work types correspond to the three place types.

The work type is selected from the Change Work Type button just under the focused election. It's not necessary to restart Voter Focus when you change the work type.
Within each work type, the majority of dialogs have a different colored background:
Precinct poll work |
Early voting work |
Election center work |
This color differentiation helps you remember which mode you are working in for the currently running program. Should you want to simultaneously run three copies of an Election Workers program—a copy for each work type—the colors let you easily identify the work type of each copy.
Worker position codes are mode specific. That is, the position codes created in one work type cannot be used in the other work types. Position codes must be unique in the database; that is, you cannot have a code, such as C, in Precinct poll work and the same code (C) in Early voting work.
A worker can be assigned to positions in different work types. For example, a worker can be assigned to work at both an early voting site and a precinctpolling place. This is allowed by the software as long as the worker is marked as active in the work type of the position you want to assign them to. To make a worker active in a work type, change to the work type and open the worker's record. Then select the check box for that work type under Work Type Availability on the General tab. Once a worker is active for a work type, you can then assign them to work positions in that work type.
The options in the Precinct Mode Settings box at the bottom of the worker record apply only to poll workers. It is not possible, nor is it required, to assign a normal position or normal work place for early voting workers and election workers.
