Export Voter History

During an election cycle, export voter history as part of your daily or nightly routine to keep TEAM up-to-date with voter history activity. All activities that were made for each voter since the last export are included in the file.

Note: Adding a returned ballot in STAR without yet entering the ballot disposition records the status change and return date in the export file to indicate the voter’s ballot was returned.
  1. Click Export on the Home screen.

  2. Select the applicable election from the list.
  3. Click Export Voters to create a comma delimited file containing voter history in TXT format. Depending on your browser and its settings, the file may open automatically, you may be prompted to open or save the file, or you may need to click a visual cue to open the file.

Important: The file is formatted as the TEAM import expects. For this reason, we recommend that you do not edit the file.

The file contains a line entry for each recorded activity, except for the AA activity, which is combined on the same line as the AR activity.

If voter activity is missed, the voter history is not properly uploaded to TEAM and an error will occur. Please contact our Customer Support team before moving forward with other STAR activity.

Common Codes Sent to TEAM in the Export File

AV Ballot Disposition Accepted Find Voter > Select Ballot Disposition > Accept
AX Ballot Disposition Rejected. Includes the ballot rejection reason code. Find Voter > Select Ballot Disposition > Select Reason > Reject
  • All activities related to returned application requests, notices, and ballots made for each voter since the last export are included in the file.
  • The party that is assigned to the election, No Party, Democrat, or Republican, is exported, which may not be the same party assigned to the voter (in Voter Details), if imported.
  • In addition to ballot disposition, voter history also includes the date when returned ballots are added in STAR. Regardless if they have been accepted or rejected, the ballots are marked as returned and are indicated as such in the export file.
  • The time in each line entry is in Central Time.

  • If you receive an error when uploading voter history into TEAM, please contact our Customer Support team before moving forward with other STAR activity.
  • Use Reprint Labels only to replace labels that were printed during application, request, or ballot processing. Reprint Labels does not add any activity to the STAR export file.
