Requirements for Student Import File

You can import ELM students into the system from a list created manually or from some other system.

Note: It is not necessary or advised to import Voter Focus election workers in to the ELM system. Courses for election workers are administered through Voter Focus, where a complete list of election workers is already available. See Assign Workers to a Class for more information on how to add election workers to a class.

To import a list of students into the ELM System, the data must be provided in a comma-separated-values (CSV) file containing these columns in the order in which they are shown here, with the column headings exactly as they are shown:

First Name *

Last Name *

Email

Phone

Street

City

State / Province

Country

ZIP/Postal

Username

New Password

Voter ID

The first row of the file must contain these column names. Each subsequent row should contain individual student data.

A value is required in the First Name and Last Name columns. Data in the other columns is optional.

Note: If no email address is provided, the system will automatically generate a random email address ending in @electionworkers.com as a placeholder for that data column.

The file should be placed in a network location accessible to the user who will be importing the students into the ELM System.

See Import Students Into the System for more information.
