Export Database Information to Create Activator Images
This topic explains how to use the Database Export program to pull voter data and other information from the county's voter registration database. This information will then be included in an activator image, which is copied to activators and then loaded onto EViD stations. Running Database Export is a crucial step in the preparation of EViD stations for voting.
The initial store of information loaded onto EViD stations from voting activators is an extract from the county’ voter registration database. As voting proceeds across the county, each EViD’s data is updated—via internet communications—with voting activity, address changes, and the like, so all stations stay in sync with the latest information in the county database.
-
All eligible voters for the selected election.
-
A record of which voters have already voted in the election (such as mail ballot voters who have returned their ballot).
-
All known addresses for the county.
-
The settings from EViD Maintenance, Poll Place Maintenance, and Options.
-
The precincts and parties voting in the election and (for election day) where they are voting.
The database export should be performed just prior to the beginning of voting to ensure that the information loaded on activators is up-to-date. When EViD stations are brought online, they automatically synchronize with the county database to pick up any changes occurring since the database export, but in medium to large counties this could require some time if the database export was not done quite recently.
When creating a database export, the Baseline Export option sets a flag on the export data indicating that this data set is the starting point for a voting period. Web Monitor uses the baseline export to determine whether EViD stations are up to date and, if they are not, how long it will be before they have caught up.
It is therefore important to select Baseline Export only when you are preparing the first export for early voting or the first export for election day voting.
If you are creating a subsequent export after early voting or election day voting is in progress, clear the Baseline Export check box. (This might be necessary if, for example, you are bringing a replacement EViD online after voting is underway.)
