Installing a Verizon Pantech UML290 USB Aircard

  1. From ShareFile > Shared Folders >EViD Downloads > Aircards, download the Verizon Pantech UML290.zip file.
  2. Right-click the zip file, click Extract All, and then browse to a jump drive to extract the contents of the zip file to the jump drive.
Important: Do not plug in any jump drives or the USB aircard at this time.
  3. Turn the EViD on.
  4. When the message Searching for Activator appears, tap the message repeatedly, and then tap Cancel twice to exit to Windows.
  5. Insert the jump drive with the contents of the extracted zip file into the EViD.
  6. Go to Start > My Computer and double-tap the jump drive.
  7. Double-tap setup.bat. A DOS window appears and executes various commands.
  8. The User Access Control dialog box appears. Enter the EViD Admin password and touch Yes. (If you do not know the EViD Admin password, contact VR Systems EViD Support.)
  9. When the message YOU MAY NOW MOVE THE JUMP DRIVE TO ANOTHER EVID IF DESIRED appears, tap OK.
  10. Remove the jump drive to use it to install the aircard software on another EViD if desired. (You do not need to wait for this installation process to finish to move on to installing the software on other EViDs.)
  11. The installation process displays several small widows and a progress bar. No interaction is needed. When this process completes, a Verizon Access Manager icon appears in the Windows notification area.
  12. Plug the aircard into the EViD USB port. The message New Hardware Found appears in the Windows notification area and the driver installation begins automatically. The software automatically configures the aircard and connects to the Verizon network. You do not need to press any buttons or configure any settings.
  13. When Verizon Access Manager icon turns green, the EViD is connected to the Internet. This may take a few minutes.
  14. On the EViD Compact, the icon may be hidden with other alerts. Tap the two arrows in the Windows notification area to see if the icon is green.

If the icon does not turn green after a few minutes, exit and restart Verizon Access Manager.

  15. Turn the EViD off and remove the jump drive if you did not already do so in Step 9. You may now either load the EViD with a staging or election activator, or turn the EViD off and put it away and repeat the steps above with another EViD.
  16. Note: You can use the same aircard to set-up multiple EViDs; however, each aircard must be used at least once so that it can be configured.
